24 Hour Folding Room (Folding
Zone) and Theme Shops
Folding Zone One is housed in the official origami festival hotel,
the Holiday Inn-Center City, and is accessible to registered festival
pass holders only. It is open continuously for 60 hours, starting
Friday, September 27 at midday and ends Sunday, September 29, at
midnight.
Within Folding Zone One is an area known as the Paper Playground where passholders
may remove up to their own body weight in a variety of different papers. Ample
tables and chairs enable spontaneous gatherings at any time of day or night.
Twice a day on Saturday and Sunday, selected teachers will conduct
theme shops These are informal European style folding sessions of
approximately two hours in duration. Participants are free to come
and go as they please. As the name implies, each sessions carries
a specific theme.
Late night in the folding zone, attendees can turn their attention to the electronic
media as throughout Saturday night we attempt to hook up with special guest
artists around the world, each with a selected model to teach. For those unable
to last through the wee hours of Saturday night, these will be videotaped and
rerun on Sunday as needed.
